Victor has had many near-death experiences on The Young and the Restless. Yet, the strong and resilient businessman survived any ordeal thrown his way. But could The Mustache’s time be running out?
Life Without Victor?
Victor’s (Eric Braeden) latest brush with death occurred when protecting his family from Ian (Ray Wise). During a showdown at the ranch, the men struggled over a gun, which led to both being shot. While Ian “died,” Victor survived and was back to his normal self.
The Newmans were relieved and grateful Victor pulled through. Yet, the incident sparked a serious discussion with the family. What would they do without Victor?
Victor is the glue that holds the Newman family together. Whether it’s with business or personal matters, he’s always there to help solve the matter. Although Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and the kids had their issues with Victor, they love him.
It’ll be a sad day when the Newmans have to say goodbye to their beloved patriarch. But could that day be happening sooner than imagined?
Recent talks about Victor’s mortality have fans wondering if Y&R is planning to kill off the character. It’s hard to imagine the show without Victor; however, in the soap opera genre, anything can happen.
While the show seems to be foreshadowing a swan song for Victor, Braeden put the kibosh on those rumors. The actor, who recently celebrated his 45th anniversary on Y&R told TV Insider he has no plans to retire.
“No,” he says. “There were moments, obviously, during negotiations and all that where you say, ‘OK, that’s it. Bon voyage, and then it always works out. But the actors I used to work with in the ’60s on nighttime television and film are either not working or they’re gone, passed away. I’m a stubborn son of a b****. I’m still here.”
So, good news, it looks like Victor will be staying around.
