Here’s Why Young and the Restless Must Not Ignore THIS Storyline

Less business, more personal is the way to go!

Everyone on The Young and the Restless has business on the brain. Tucker is doing…something that should get him Jabot. Or Chancellor-Winters. Or Newman Enterprises. Or Glissade. Seriously, we have no idea anymore. But he is scheming against…somebody.

Mind Your Own Business

Meanwhile, Diane (Susan Walters) is the new co-CEO of Jabot, which Kyle (Michael Mealor) either suggested himself or is unhappy about it. Also, there may still be something between Kyle and Audra (Zuleyka Silver). But Audra is with Tucker (Trevor St. John), who is gaslighting Ashley (Eileen Davidson) for some reason? Unless he isn’t. Billy (Jason Thompson) wants to add the Abbott name to a company that has nothing to do with the Abbotts. Oh, and Sally’s (Courtney Hope) company is suddenly failing, so Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) wants to take on a new partner, and Adam (Mark Grossman) wants Victor (Eric Braeden) to hire Sally and…oh, my God, who cares?

Why did The Powers That Be of Genoa City suddenly decide that everyone watching the show is mesmerized by boring boardroom drama? Where did they get this idea? What focus group is suggesting this? Every single scene these days feels about as exciting as reading a profit and loss sheet. Maybe this is fun for someone. But are Wall Street movers and shakers the target audience for daytime’s number one drama? Sure, they have money, and they buy stuff. But they also work during the day. This is not for them.

The Good Stuff

On the other hand, the one story that is really resonating with viewers is the only one that has nothing to do with stock prices and shares. Claire’s (Hayley Erin) true identity, her vendetta against the Newmans, her crazy aunt Jordan (Colleen Zenk), Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) alcoholism and how that puts her back into Jack’s (Peter Bergman) orbit — thus giving Victor conniptions.

Now THAT storyline is Must See TV. It employs history AND introduces a new and intriguing character. The threat to Nikki and Victor’s marriage comes from who they both are — well, mostly it’s coming from him being a control freak, but that is who he is — not from a battle over who will be CEO. This is what fans like. This is what fans want to see. So why can’t we have nice things?
