Phyllis’ life continues to be a complicated mess with little to celebrate on The Young and the Restless. But Michelle Stafford has lots to be thankful for as she celebrates her birthday. And as it turns out she has a special wish for her big milestone.

Key Takeaways

  • Stafford celebrated her birthday on September 14.
  • Stafford’s Y&R co-stars showed their love for the actress on her big day.
  • The star offered some unique insight and plans for the future.

Michelle Stafford’s Words Of Wisdom

Stafford’s week kicked off with a joyous start as she celebrated her 61st birthday on Monday, September 14th. Her big day was filled with well-wishes from fans and Y&R castmates, including Christian Le Blanc (Michael) and Lauralee Bell (Christine).

Stafford was feeling the love from everyone, and it made her more grateful for all that life has to offer. On Instagram, the actress reflected on celebrating another big milestone.

”I just completed a trip around the sun. Now, I start a new one,” the actress began the caption.

Stafford went on to explain that many people ask her for advice on getting older, and she didn’t hold back in her bluntness. “I have no advice. I’m just trying to make it happen every day just like you all.”

However, Stafford does have some viewpoints on making it through life. “Don’t be serious. Life is so f*^king short…it’s so short…enjoy it. Be good to folks.”

As for what she envisions for her future, Stafford wrote, “I want to be sitting on my porch when I’m 105, in my diaper, knowing that I went for it. That (in my life), I really lived.”

A Big Year

2026 has been a huge year for Stafford, whose character Phyllis was front and center during the Newman takeover storyline. Phyllis became a girl boss as she beat Victor (Eric Braeden) at his own game.

However, Phyllis’ success came with consequences. She became the town pariah, and her children, Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Summer (Allison Lanier), cut ties with her. Phyllis’ rise to the top was cut short, and now she’s back to contemplating her next move, which currently involves Matt Clark (Roger Howarth)

Although Phyllis doesn’t have much to celebrate, there’s much for Stafford to be thankful for. Aside from her birthday, the actress has a busy month ahead.

The star is nominated for a 2026 Daytime Emmy for Lead Actress. This is her 12th Lead Actress nod and 14th nomination overall.

With the ceremony scheduled for October 30, Stafford will be busy prepping for the festivities. And if she happens to win come Emmy night, it’ll mark an incredible year and more reason to celebrate.
