Since being taken off contract, Melissa Ordway’s Abby has been MIA from The Young and the Restless. It’s been three months since the star’s last appearance, and many fans worried she wouldn’t return. However, they’ll soon see the actress and her character Abby back onscreen.
Back On Set
Ordway has been playing Victor (Eric Braeden) and Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) daughter Abby since 2013. But after 11 years, there was a change to the actress’ status. In November 2024, Ordway announced she’d been taken off contract and bumped to recurring status.
News of her contract status came after her character Abby married Devon (Bryton James) in a milestone episode. Following Abby and Devon’s nuptials, Ordway made a few appearances throughout December but has since been absent.
However, there’s good news for Abby fans.
Ordway revealed on Instagram that she’s back on set filming for Y&R. The actress shared a collection of photos from the Newman Ranch and Society. She also posed for a photo with co-stars Braeden and Christian LeBlanc. Then later snapped a photo with her other onscreen family James and Christel Khalil.
“Abby’s back in #GenoaCity for a couple episodes with her Newman and Winters families,” the actress captioned the post.
Fans immediately flooded the comment section with their excitement over the news.
“Sooo happy to see you back on Y&R where you belong! We miss you on the show,” wrote one user.
“We love Abby!” declared another fan.
“It’s about time to give Abby some storyline time,” another viewer demanded.
When Abby returns to Genoa City, there will be some drama with the Newman and Winters families. Her father Victor is doing a background check on Nate’s (Sean Dominic) brother Damian (Jermaine Rivers). But Victor’s investigation could impact Damian’s reunion with his mother Amy (Valarie Pettiford) and create tension for the Winters.
