Lauralee Bell is a member of soap opera royalty. Her parents, William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, created the iconic soaps The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Lauralee has always been proud of her parents, but now she’s got a better appreciation for all they did.

Key Takeaways

  • Lauralee Bell is the daughter of William J. and Lee Phillip Bell, the creators of Y&R and B&B.
  • The Bells had their hands full juggling their family and the soap opera world.
  • Lauralee recalls how her parents handled the stressful world of daytime TV.

Lauralee Bell Reflects On Her Parents’ Work Ethic

In 1973, the Bells made their mark on daytime TV with the creation of Y&R. The soap opera became a huge hit for CBS and led the Bell family to become icons in the soap world.

The couple had their hands full running a show and raising their three young children. Although it would be challenging for any person, William and Lee managed to do it flawlessly.

As a child, Lauralee was too young to understand her parents’ work. But now that she’s older, she’s in “awe” of their work and family dynamic.

”I appreciate my parents more because of all they juggled as mom and dad, and creators of the show,” the actress told TV Insider. Although her parents’ schedule rarely allowed for a hiatus, the couple kept their children’s lives as normal as possible.

While the Bells might have had stressful moments, Lauralee and her brothers never knew. “We very rarely saw them frazzled or overwhelmed, and that was such a gift,” she expressed.

Carrying On The Family Legacy

Lauralee got a glimpse of her parents’ world when she was cast as Y&R’s Christine. Since 1983, Lauralee has been portraying Genoa City’s favorite model-turned-lawyer.

Seeing all that goes into running a soap opera gave her a new understanding of her parents’ work. “It’s not easy to weave a cast this big in and out and make it emotional and happy and sad and scary. So, to think that I was a product of that genius and my mom being equally genius in her way, I’m very grateful.”

Although Lauralee used to “shy away” from her heritage, she now embraces it. She is one proud daughter of everything her parents accomplished. And her parents would be proud of her, too, for carrying on the family legacy.
