Veteran actress Della Reese, who played Devon’s grand aunt Virginia on The Young and the Restless (YR), has passed away. She was 86.
The performer, best known for her role on Touched By An Angel, showed up on Y&R in 2010 as Devon’s relative with some revealing info about his family. The appearance was brief but memorable!
Reese’s career dates back to the late ’50s when she transitioned from singing to acting. She had her own talk show, Della, which ran from 1969-70 and was the first woman to ever guest host The Tonight Show!
Among her numerous TV appearances, Reese had a regular role on the sitcom Chico and the Man, and she also starred opposite Redd Foxx in his final sitcom The Royal Family. In the mid-80s, she did some episodes of Charlie & Co., a family sitcom that co-starred none other than Y&R co-star, Kristoff St. John (Neil).
