On the August 13 episode of The Young and the Restless, Billy was all excited because he thought he’d figured out how to get Chancellor away from Lily and Cane. Does Billy know… anything?

Key Takeaways

  • Billy is obsessed with getting back a company that never belonged to him in the first place.
  • Billy mocked Kyle for not understanding that he’d figured out a brilliant plan for reclaiming it.
  • Billy is the one who has no clue here.

Lost and Found

Jill once gave Billy (Jason Thompson) Chancellor Industries to run. Billy did a lousy job, so she took it back and gave it to Victor (Eric Braeden).

Billy was furious. How dare his mother take away the company that belonged to the first husband of the woman whose husband Jill had an affair with? Doesn’t she realize that makes it Billy’s birthright?

Hangers On

For a while, Billy thought he’d get Chancellor back after Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) stole it from Cane (Billy Flynn), who stole it from Victor. But then Phyllis gave it back to Victor. Who gave it to Lily (Christel Khalil), whom Victor had screwed over earlier, and Lily hired Cane to run it. Billy went mental over that development, too.

Desperate Times Call for Stupid Measures

Now, Billy is all excited because he found a document saying that John (Jerry Douglas) once loaned money to Chancellor, and since the loan was never paid back, that means the Abbotts now own Katherine’s (Jeanne Cooper) company. When Kyle (Michael Mealor) had some shockingly logical questions to ask, Billy called him names and mocked his MBA from Harvard (we are also surprised that Kyle has any kind of degree, but, hey, money can buy a college spot for dumb, rich kids this is a well-established fact).

Except that Kyle had a point. And Billy is the one grasping at straws here. Billy is convinced that Jill knew about the document and deliberately kept it from him. Does Billy realize that contracts between two major businesses aren’t just a matter of two Mr. Moneybags writing an agreement on a napkin? Lawyers are involved. And both parties get a copy of the agreement. Which is then managed by their Business Affairs departments.

Does Billy honestly think John Abbott’s legal team just… forgot… that they were owed many millions of dollars?
