Later this week, both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful will run out of original episodes as production halted last month due to the coronavirus. CBS has announced a plan to rebroadcast classic episodes to fill the show’s regular time slots.

CBS Soaps Move To The Future By Mining The Past

Starting Monday, April 27, YR will air episodes featuring “Katherine the Great” AKA Kay Chancellor (the late Jeanne Cooper). According to a press release, the episodes will go back as far as 1990.

Viewers will also see in these episodes YR veterans including Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott), Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore), Doug Davidson (Paul Williams), Jess Walton (Jill Abbott), and the late Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters), among others.

Meanwhile, BB will air “Escape to Monte Carlo, in which BB characters traveled abroad to the Mediterranean. Watch for these episodes to include Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer), Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer), Don Diamont (Bill Spencer), Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), John McCook (Eric Forrester), Rena Sofer (Quinn Fuller), and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester).

On Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28, BB will air documentary-style episodes of the show titled Becoming Bold and Beautiful. These shows will feature rare, behind-the-scenes footage of cast and crew (including executive producer Bradley Bell) as they shot throughout the enchanting mountainside country.

On Friday, April 24, The Bold and the Beautiful will air the Monte Carlo-themed episode in which Forrester Creations and Spectra Fashions battled on the runway in a charity benefit.

“It’s incredibly fun to offer fans an opportunity to look back at such memorable moments from YR and BB,” said Amy Reisenbach, Executive Vice President, Current Programs, CBS Entertainment. “Both of these shows have extraordinary legacies, and these specially curated episodes are only a small portion of what we hope to be able to present in the coming weeks.”

To refresh memories of viewers, stars from each soap will introduce each episode with bonus commentary. Watch for additional theme weeks for both shows to be announced in the future.
