Many famous celebrities have visited Genoa City over the years, often appearing as themselves on The Young And The Restless. It’s hard to believe but one musical sensation did her special guest spot on the top-rated soap over a decade ago!

Adrienne Frantz, who played Amber on both YR and sister soap The Bold And The Beautiful (where she originated the role of the scrappy heroine), shared photos of that time Katy Perry (American Idol) played herself on YR!

The show worked the singing sensation into the storyline by making her a cover girl on Restless Style, the magazine within the show that was founded by Jack (Peter Bergman), Sharon (Sharon Case), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).

Perry’s June 2008 YR appearance timed with the release of her album One Of The Boys, which contained the hits I Kissed A Girl (And I Liked It) and Hot N Cold.

Of Perry’s YR guest spot, Frantz wrote, “That time on @youngandrestlesscbs when I was working with @katyperry she was such a sweetheart!”

At the time, Perry said that she was interested in exploring acting. Her on-screen “fictionalized” roles have mostly included playing versions of herself on such the ABC sitcom American Housewife and the film Zoolander. She played original characters on Raising Hope and How I Met Your Mother.

She stars as a judge on the latest incarnation of American Idol alongside singers Lionel Richie (who has also appeared on YR as himself) and Luke Bryan. American Idol is hosted by Ryan Seacrest and has been renewed for the 2019-20 TV season. Check out Frantz’s Instagram post below!
