Matt Clark is one of The Young and the Restless‘ most iconic villains. His treachery began in 1994 when he terrorized Nick and Sharon. Three decades later, he’s still a problem for the couple. If fans thought Matt was dangerous before, that’s nothing compared to his latest actions.

Key Takeaways

  • Matt is one of Genoa City’s top bad guys who harassed Nick and Sharon.
  • Matt returned from the dead in 2025 to wreak havoc on Shick and their son Noah.
  • The cat-and-mouse game with Matt led to an explosive showdown in Las Vegas.

Ticking Time Bomb

Initially, Matt’s (Roger Howarth) reign of terror began in the early ’90s and continued through the ’00s. His list of crimes includes raping Sharon (Sharon Case), getting Nick (Joshua Morrow) arrested for selling drugs, and framing Nick for his murder.

Sharon and Nick thought their problems with Matt had disappeared after his death in 2001. But in 2025, their world was rocked when Matt returned from the dead to finish what he started. Not only did Matt terrorize Shick, but also their son Noah (Lucas Adams), who had an affair with Matt’s wife, Sienna (Tamara Braun).

Despite attempts to bring him to justice, Matt was released from jail and fled to Las Vegas. But the Newmans weren’t far away. They followed Matt’s trail to Sin City in hopes of finally taking him down.

However, Matt remained one step ahead of them. He used Nick’s ongoing painkiller addiction to his advantage in his latest stunt.

After kidnapping Sharon and Noah, Matt lured Nick and Adam to an abandoned gas station. As mother and son were about to be rescued, Nick collapsed from the bad batch of Fentanyl Matt supplied him with.

As everyone fretted over Nick, Matt watched the action unfold nearby with a detonator. In one quick swoop, Matt pressed the button, setting off a bomb that blew up the gas station.

Is It Over?

Thankfully, Adam, Nick, Sharon, and Noah were able to escape in time. But the explosion showed that Matt’s upped his game and is more dangerous than ever.

With Matt still on the loose, the Newmans have to ramp up protection and their plan to take him down. However, that might not be necessary.

Before Matt detonated the bomb, Sienna offered herself in order to save everyone. Unfortunately, her pleading didn’t work with Matt. He didn’t hesitate to blow the Newmans to smithereens.

When Sienna finally makes her way back to the hotel, she’s dirty and bloody and has news. Matt is dead. But is he?

Sienna’s story will raise suspicions and prompt many to question her loyalty (including Sharon). Based on what we’ve seen from Matt so far, he’s probably in hiding, waiting to make his next move. Given how deadly his latest stunt was, there’s no telling what Mr. Clark has in store for his enemies.
