Yesterday, Soap Hub and several other media sources reported that Kristoff St. John had been hospitalized following an alleged suicide attempt.
The story, originally reported by TMZ, claimed St. John sent picture of himself with a gun to his head to his ex-wife, Mia, and that Mia called the cops, leading to the actor being placed on a 72-hour psychiatric hold.
Mia St. John denied that part of the story and finally set the record straight today. While she did not confirm her ex-husband tried to kill himself, she does admit something did happen that led to a larger incident.
“Last week, an incident occurred, that pushed him to the breaking point, but was not accurately reported,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“I hope that at this moment we can all wrap our arms around Kristoff and help him in this time of need. Help him heal and move forward. This is not a ‘gossip’ story, or an interesting headline, this is a man trying to deal with a tragedy, that has torn apart his soul. Right now what he needs is your thoughts and prayers.”
The actor’s ex also spoke of their son Julian’s suicide nearly three years ago and how it affected the actor.
“No parent should ever have to bury their child, and for those who do, it is a nightmare that haunts you forever. The death of our beloved son Julian, has taken a toll on both of us,” she said.
“He is an actor and while he may appear whole on the outside, his heart is broken. As a society we need to start taking mental health seriously and realize that no one is immune.”
Soap Hub wishes the actor a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with him and his family during this difficult time.
