Tracey Bregman was living with her parents when she was cast as Lauren Fenmore. She shared in a recent Facebook live chat that she was leaving her home one day and a familiar face — Y&R executive producer Wes Kenney — pulled up in her family’s driveway and asked her if she wanted to do a soap!
Actually, Kenney asked if the star wanted to do another soap. He’d cast her previously as Donna Craig on Days Of Our Lives.
“They brought me in to audition for Patty Williams, Paul’s (Doug Davidson) sister,” Bregman recalls. She wasn’t right for that part, but she was given the role of Lauren.
Around this time, Bregman got her own condo and she’ll never forget who helped her pay it off!

“Bill [Bell, Y&R’s creator/head writer/executive producer] came up to me one day and said that he’d heard I’d bought my first condo,” Bregman recalls. Her boss asked her how much it cost and the actress shared the amount.
“He said, ‘Let’s pay it off this year,'” says Bregman, who worked so many shows that year that she was able to do just that. “He helped me pay off my first condo. I don’t think anyone knows that story!”
