Camryn Grimes originally starred on The Young and the Restless as Cassie Newman, but she returned to the show in 2014 as Cassie’s twin sister, Mariah Copeland. Since she started acting at such a young age, Grimes has managed to work on a number of shows over the years, including Medium, ER, and The Mentalist.

She got her start on The Young and the Restless back in 1997, and Grimes has remained incredibly popular with fans. From her famous uncle to her first movie role, here are five fast facts you need to know about the actress.

In The Beginning….
Grimes is the daughter of Preston Lee and Heather Grimes and was born on January 7 in Van Nuys, California. She is the oldest of seven children, as she has siblings Dakota, Shelby, Mattea, Ryder, Piper, and Peyton. She started acting at a very young age — living so close to Hollywood certainly made that easier.

Famous Family
Grimes is also the niece of actor Scott Grimes, who is best known for starring on shows such as ER, Band of Brothers, Party of Five, and NCIS: Los Angeles. He’s also done voice work in shows such as Family Guy and American Dad.

Record Holder
Grimes was cast as Cassie Newman on YR in 1997 when she was just 7 years old. Three years later, she became the youngest person to ever win the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. The previous record-holder was Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin, General Hospital), who won when she was 11.

First Movie Role
Just one year after winning her Emmy, Grimes was featured in the 2001 film Swordfish as Holly Jobson. The film also starred A-list actors such as Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, and John Travolta. This was her first movie role.

Off-Screen Hobbies
Acting has always been her passion since she was a little girl, but Grimes also tried her hand at a few other hobbies while she was growing up. She loves to swim, is a great high diver, and she is also a good dancer! In fact, she used to perform in high school. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
