Holden is Lily’s brother. And Nate’s.

Recently on The Young and the Restless, Stephanie, Malcolm, and Holden have dealt with the fallout of Stephanie confessing that Holden is Malcolm’s son. Not only did Holden get a new father, but he also learned that Lily is his sister. And while they were processing that, we were wondering why everyone in Genoa City needs to be related to everybody else.

Key Takeaways

  • Holden was available to date anybody.
  • Holden is now related to Damian.
  • What are the odds of that happening?

Free Agent

One of the best aspects of Holden (Nathan Owens, who says Holden is a good guy) — other than him…looking like Holden — was that he was a complete newcomer to Genoa City.

That meant he could date ANYBODY. Not just Claire (Hayley Erin), but Summer (Allison Lanier), and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Faith (Reylynn Caster) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon (Sharon Case) and Esther (Kate Linder) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and, yes, even Lily (Christel Khalil).

Whenever Holden flirted with anyone, viewers didn’t have to stop and try to figure out if there were potential bloodline crosses. That was a great relief. For us, and for Holden.

Change of Scene

That’s not the case anymore. Now that Holden is Malcolm’s (Shemar Moore) son, he’s not just Lily’s biological brother; he is Nate’s (Sean Dominic) legal brother. Nate just got — and lost — a new brother in Damian (Jermaine Rivers). Whom Holden originally impersonated. Because he and Damian were best friends.

So let’s get this straight: Damian was the secret son of a man who once lived in Genoa City, and Holden was the secret son of a man who once lived in Genoa City, and both their moms once lived in Genoa City, and they presumably knew their respective sons’ best friend… and that never came up? What are the odds of that happening?
