Eric Braeden and Christian Le Blanc have lots to celebrate. The Young and the Restless stars earned Lead Actor nominations for this year’s Daytime Emmys. It’s going to be a fun and friendly battle between the co-stars, who submitted the same scene for their reels.

Key Takeaways

  • Braeden and Le Blanc were both nominated for Lead Actor at the 2026 Daytime Emmys.
  • Both actors are previous winners of the coveted award.
  • Victor and Michael’s friendship and professional relationship were tested in 2025.

One Scene, Two Nominations

2025 saw some tense moments between Michael (Le Blanc) and Victor (Braeden). The Genoa City lawyer has been Victor’s right-hand man for many years. Although Michael is always loyal to Victor, their friendship has hit some bumps.

Michael has found himself torn between his wife, Lauren (Tracey Bregman), and his boss. Furious with Michael’s lack of attention to him and their work, Victor fired his longtime attorney. The powerful and emotional scene not only earned Braeden a Daytime Emmy nod but also Le Blanc.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Braeden discussed him and Le Blanc submitting the same scene for their reels. “I think it’s so funny we both got nominated for that,” the actor joked.

If Le Blanc happens to win come Emmy night, Braden teased he might go into Victor mode. “I will simply tell him, ‘I won’t allow it!’ and he will not get paid. I will fire him again.”

All joking aside, Braeden is happy for his co-star. “He’s a wonderful actor and great to work with – except him makes me laugh too much.”

Tough Competition This Year

This year’s nod marks Braeden’s 11th nomination for Lead Actor. The actor took home the trophy in 1998 and is looking to score another win. As for Le Blanc, he’s already a three-time winner in the category, and this marks his 9th nod for Lead Actor and 13th nomination overall.

But the Y&R stars face tough competition from their fellow nominees, General Hospital‘s Steve Burton and The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Scott Clifton and Thorsten Kaye. The latter two are also previous winners in the Lead Actor category, looking to add to their awards shelf.

With the amount of powerhouse performances, the Lead Actor category is stacked this year. Given the shockers in the past, it wouldn’t be surprising if Braeden or Le Blanc were announced as the winner.

But win or lose, it’s going to be a fun night for Braeden and Le Blanc. Not only will the two be cheering each other on, but also their Y&R castmates.
