On The Young and the Restless, Rey moved out because he thought Sharon was too obsessed with Adam. Then he came back when Sharon convinced him she wasn’t too obsessed with Adam. Oh, we’re sure, she’s committed, 40% of you shrug. Just like we’re equally sure that Sharon (Sharon Case) will screw it up sooner rather than later. She enters every marriage convinced that this time, it’s forever. And then something happens.
Sometimes she does something wrong, and sometimes the guy does something wrong and Sharon reacts in an even worse way. The point is, she doesn’t know how to make a relationship work. And Rey isn’t the guy who’s going to change that.

Working Girl
A slightly smaller 37% of the audience has the opposite view: Sharon really wants to make it work this time. And she has enough experience with all the relationships that have gone wrong in the past that she knows how to sidestep the pitfalls this time around. Rey is going to reap the benefits of all of the relationships that have already gone wrong for Sharon, including Nick (Joshua Morrow)… and Adam (Mark Grossman).
Safety In Numbers
And then there are the 23% of viewers who think that Sharon will make the relationship work not because she loves Rey above all others, but because he is her safe choice.
Rey doesn’t challenge or frighten or excite Sharon the way that Adam does. She can have a nice, safe life with him, without any of the drama that dogged her past.
