Why Is Young and the Restless Criminal Faith Being Treated With Kid Gloves?

On The Young and the Restless, Faith stole a bottle of tequila from Grandma Nikki, drank it, then got behind the wheel of a car – despite being drunk and too young for a license. She, of course, crashed.

Young and the Restless’ Faith — Special Treatment?

At the hospital, Sharon (Sharon Case), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) begged for her forgiveness. If only they’d been better parents/grandparents Faith (Reylynn Caster) would have never felt compelled to act out like this!

Next Steps
Then, as Faith was ready to be released, Nick brought Chris (Lauralee Bell) to talk to her about Faith’s upcoming court hearing. Chris explained that she wasn’t her attorney, more of her advocate and that she’d be able to have both her parents at the hearing. Everyone, including the judge, would be doing everything they could to make the process “as comfortable as possible.”

Shoe On the Other Foot
Uhm… what? Why is everyone acting like Faith is the victim, testifying at someone else’s trial? Faith is the criminal. Nick and Sharon believe she has suffered enough, having gotten into an accident and now having some boo-boos on her face.

What do you think? Post a comment!

But Faith is lucky she only gave herself boo-boos. She could have given someone else boo-boos. She could have KILLED someone else. Remember Delia? Remember, uhm… Cassie (Camryn Grimes)?

White and Rich
We know that Faith is Victor’s (Eric Braeden) granddaughter and that her crime will only get a slap on the wrist. That’s what happened with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) when he hit Nikki. Newmans get special dispensation.

But what if this crime weren’t committed by Faith Newman? What if it were committed by Jared, the kid Nate (Sean Dominic) and Elena (Brytni Sarpy) had to bring back from a drug overdose? Or what if Moses were the one behind the wheel? Would their penalties be just as minor?

We know that’s how things work in the real world. But does YR have to remind us about it? The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
