The Young and the Restless fans were delighted to hear that Chance’s mother, Nina, was on her way back to Genoa City, played by original fan favorite and Daytime Emmy-winner Tricia Cast.

Nina Returns To The Young and the Restless

Nina, at one point, was a huge part of the love triangle with Christine (Lauralee Blair) and Phillip (Thom Bierdz). She was also the woman whom David (Michael Corbett) married for her money – before being squished, as we saw this summer, in a trash compactor at a costume ball. So Nina is kind of a big deal!

We initially thought she might come to town after her son was shot. But he’s much better now, so maybe we should expect her for his and Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) wedding. But Nina is more than just a mom. What other trouble could she get into?

Money Matters

We just had a story where Cane (Daniel Goddard) thought he was entitled to the money Kay (Jeanne Cooper) left Devon (Bryton James). And he wasn’t even a real Chancellor! Surely, Nina has a better claim on that inheritance… for her baby boy, Chance (Donny Boaz, but temporarily Justin Gaston), of course. (Super adorable fact: A pre-teen Tricia Cast co-starred with an equally young Kristoff St. John on the early 1980s primetime series, The Bad News Bears.)

Love Match

So Phillip and David didn’t work out. But that doesn’t mean Nina has to continue striking out in love while she’s in Genoa City. What about Jack (Peter Bergman)? He’s available. And the age difference between them now doesn’t seem nearly as big as when he was running Jabot, and she was his teen model’s best friend.

Or we could go in the other direction. How about Rey (Jordi Vilasuso)? Nina would make an awesome cougar. And Rey really shouldn’t count on his wedding to Sharon (Sharon Case) going without a hitch. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
