Nick is trying to get rid of Matt, but Sharon is complicating things on The Young and the Restless. A distraught Matt returned to Genoa City seeking Sharon’s help following his car accident. A reluctant Sharon agreed to help him, and now it could be setting up one of GC’s unlikely romances.

Key Takeaways

  • Sharon dated Matt before she became involved with Nick.
  • An angry Matt attacked Sharon and has tormented her and Nick for years.
  • Matt seemed on the road to redemption after a bout of amnesia earlier this year.
  • A recent head injury has Matt seeking Sharon’s help in controlling his evil thoughts.

Sharon Softens Towards Matt

Just when Sharon (Sharon Case) thought she was free of Matt (Roger Howarth), he waltzes right back into her life, make that home. Sharon was startled when Matt showed up at her house seeking assistance.

Matt hurt his head during a car crash with Patty (Stacy Haiduk). The injury has Matt battling his good and evil sides.

Matt was on the road to redemption after a bout of amnesia earlier this year. However, his latest head injury could have him returning to the dark side, something neither he nor others want.

To help control his menacing thoughts, Matt turned to Sharon for help. Sharon managed to get Matt admitted to a top clinic, but that wasn’t enough for Mr. Clark. He wants Sharon to be his therapist.

Sharon agreed to be Matt’s therapist, much to Nick’s dismay. It’s understandable why Nick is angry, because Matt has been torturing him and Sharon, off and on, for the past 30 years.

Matt’s reign of terror first began when he was a teen, and he and Nick fought over Sharon’s affections. Sharon briefly dated Matt before dumping him for Nick. This set off Matt, who raped Sharon and later lied about Nick trying to kill him.

Since then, Matt’s returned multiple times to continue tormenting them. Nick would love nothing more than to have Matt out of their lives. But now, thanks to Sharon, it might be harder to get rid of him.

Sharon and Matt Fall In Love

Y&R seems to be hinting at a potential Sharon and Matt romance now that she’s becoming his therapist. Although Sharon is skeptical of Matt’s ability to change, she might see a new side of him as their sessions begin. And it’s possible that a romance could develop.

Sharon and Matt becoming a couple would be controversial given their history. But it’d also create lots of drama.

First, Nick will be furious and convinced that Matt is taking advantage of Sharon. This will make him more determined than ever to get Nick away from his family and out of GC.

Then there’s Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). She’s fallen for Matt and promised to wait for him. Now, she faces possible heartbreak with Matt choosing Sharon over her.

And lastly, there’s Matt’s true motives. Does Matt trust Sharon because he believes he can change with her help? Or is he just using her as part of a bigger, dangerous plot?
