On The Young and the Restless, Sharon was terrified of two things: Breast cancer and Adam. And in order to avoid thinking about either, Sharon decided to tell Rey to propose to her. He dutifully did. They set a December 31 wedding date. And then Sharon found out that her surgery seemed to have been successful… and that Adam had broken up with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan).

It was a squeaker but, in the end, 52% of the audience agreed that this was too much, too soon. Not only is Sharon on a high from beating breast cancer but, more importantly, she hasn’t really processed her feelings for Adam (Mark Grossman).

Sharon put her life on the line to help him when he reached out. And it was the main cause of contention between her and Rey. They haven’t really dealt with the issue. They merely swept it under the rug. But out of sight isn’t out of mind when it comes to a guy like Adam, and if Sharon and Rey continue to play blind, they risk ending up with mud in both their eyes.
It’s About Time
That means that 48% believe Sharon’s health scare drove home how anything can happen at any time, so why delay joy? She and Rey are in love now. Which means it is the absolute best time for them to tie the knot. Rey understands how close he came to losing her to disease, and Sharon understands how close she came to losing Rey to Adam’s neediness.
