A Young and the Restless Twist That Could Have Been A Thrilling Story

Faith needs a kidney transplant on The Young and the Restless. And, even though the canvas is littered with her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, full siblings, and half-siblings, wouldn’t you know it, the ONLY person who shares Faith’s blood type is Adam. Who is currently on the run. And loath to do Nick a favor, in any case.

A Young and the Restless Twist…If Only

Ho hum. We all know where this will lead. Adam (Mark Grossman) will risk his freedom to return to town, give Faith (Reylynn Caster) the kidney, and, especially once it comes out that Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) framed him, he will be absolutely forgiven for all the bad deeds that came before.

Look Broadly
How much more fun – and intriguing – would it have been if Faith’s only hope were Mariah (Camryn Grimes)? On any other occasion, we know Mariah wouldn’t have hesitated to help out her sister. But there’s a catch. Mariah is pregnant. And not even with her own child, but Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance’s.

Medical Restrictions
You can’t donate a kidney while you’re pregnant. But Faith’s time is running out. Would Mariah abort the baby in order to save her sick sister? Is it even her choice to make?

Interested Parties

Would Abby get a say? Would Devon (Bryton James)? It’s his biological son or daughter. We know Victor (Eric Braeden) would feel compelled to chime in. If he came down on Faith’s side, it would be just more proof for Abby that Victor favors his children with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) over her.

Would the Abbotts take out a court order against the Newmans to forbid Mariah from getting an abortion? Would all the people who believe “My Body, My Choice” suddenly change their tune if the body isn’t the biological parent?

This could have been a groundbreaking story that pulled in a majority of the canvas. Instead, we’re getting Adam the hero… again. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
