B&B Fans Can’t Believe Douglas Played the Caroline Card Before Leaving LA with Thomas

Douglas went there. He really went there.

On The Bold and the Beautiful, Hope has been dealt one major blow after another. Once she said no to Thomas’s proposal, they broke up. He also quit designing her Hope for the Future fashion line and decided to leave Los Angeles in favor of more Parisian pursuits. And, oh yeah, he’s taking Douglas with him. In the Thursday, March 28 episode, Hope faced Douglas, who’s living firmly in Team Thomasville.

Been Nice Knowing You!

Honestly, the Hope (Annika Noelle) / Douglas (Henry Samiri) conversation was brutal. The kid didn’t hold back. He told her he was disappointed in her and made it seem like her love for him was as finite as it was for Thomas. On top of that, he wanted to know why she didn’t love them enough, why their family wasn’t enough for her.

Hope tried to explain how she wasn’t ready to get married yet. He really went for the jugular after she told him she’d always be his mother. That’s when he disagreed and said his mom died. At that point, we could tell that his words gutted Hope. It’s as if Steffy and/or Thomas prepped Douglas before he talked to Hope and fed him every single point that they knew would either tear down or trigger Hope.

“My mother died. Caroline Spencer. She gave birth to me. Dad was good enough for her.”

Douglas Forrester, March 28, 2024, B&B

Later, he ran into her arms and called her “mom,” but the damage was done. He told her that he was accompanying his dad to Paris. Because his dad worked so hard and came so far and did everything he could for her, yet she didn’t want to marry him. Everybody on this show ignores the part where she says she doesn’t want to get married “right now” but for Douglas, it was all or nothing. And he asked Hope not to drag him into court to push this whole joint custody thing. He needed to be with his dad.

Fan Feedback

Unsurprisingly, fans were shocked and some were as gutted as Hope when Douglas played the Caroline card. Caroline, Douglas’s biological mom, died when their little family lived in New York. After her death, that’s when Thomas returned to Los Angeles with his son. Once, again, Soap Hub turned to X/Formerly known as Twitter to see what B&B viewers thought of this Caroline mention, which was clearly used to hurt Hope. And it did. @KMe_ki called Douglas “a little savage.” Fair assessment.

@DePettiestPeach is us. They can’t believe the show “pulled the Caroline card.”

@Nikelodeon2021 isn’t convinced Thomas is all there starting off by saying: “Hope has been Douglas’ ‘mom’ all this time without being married to Thomas. Now Douglas is saying it’s an ‘us’ package and ‘you don’t want us’? Then they go on to say that, “Yeah, ya’ll ain’t doing a good job at convincing me that Thomas is mentally healthy & doesn’t have major issues.”

@_chickymonkey couldn’t have said it better. “DAMN that kid is savage like his mother LMAO”

@AmberEllim questions the B&B history of it all saying “Why is Douglas saying Thomas was good enough for Caroline? Did Thomas fib about that baby’s conception? I c ould be wrong but…Caroline was in love with Ridge, not Thomas.”

@tuansociety feels bad for Douglas. “His dad is in love with his adopted mom (calling her this cause Caroline only dead til the writers are bored) but his aunt hates her & vice versa. While his grandmothers periodically fight over his grandpa.”
