The war between Forrester and Logan is simmering on The Bold and the Beautiful. But beneath it lies betrayal and a well of hurt. Most of the scenes devoted to this fashion feud have focused on Katie and Brooke’s scathing critiques of each other. However, viewers had heard little about Katie’s true feelings on Eric’s departure. This changed in the Monday, April 13 episode.

Key Takeaways

  • Eric’s leaving Logan has Katie upset.
  • The reason why she hasn’t reached out to him.
  • How their rift plays into the fashion feud.

What Happened on Monday’s B&B

Once again under fire for her business decisions, Katie finally broke her silence over Eric’s treatment of her. While her comments didn’t get her very far with Brooke, they did reveal why Katie’s not speaking to Eric. For as much bluster as she’s had to weather from the Forresters, it’s Eric’s behavior that’s left her feeling unmoored.

Eric Didn’t Stick to His Word

Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) tried to shame Katie (Heather Tom) into not using Eric’s (John McCook) designs. But she was unsuccessful. As Katie and Bill (Don Diamont) have noted, Eric has completed commissioned work for Logan.

He was paid for his designs and was aware that they’d be used for a collection. His decision to walk away from his position as lead designer has no bearing on whether his designs would be used. As discussed, they belong to Logan.

But besides the business of it all, it’s not Eric’s about-face that’s gotten under Katie’s skin. It’s how he left the company. In the span of one conversation with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Eric went from championing Katie to leaving her on the hook.

They were supposed to bring her first collection into the world together. Frustrated and galled that she’s being harangued for moving forward with her plan, Katie exclaimed:

He was my friend. He was someone I respected. I looked up to him for most of my life. So when he said that he had faith in me and what I was doing and that he was excited to be a part of it, I was so honored. He stood in this room and he said that we were going to stand at the end of the runway with our arms raised in victory. Those were his words, not mine.

And then Ridge says, what? He says, “Come on, Dad. Come on back to your own company. Welcome back,” and he goes. And just leaves nothing. He hangs me out to dry and you’re wondering why I haven’t reached out to him?! Where’s my phone call? I think if anyone in this room deserves an apology, it’s me.

Eric gave Katie the support she needed. He boosted her confidence and made her feel secure about Logan’s direction. Then he took that all away with nary a word to her about it. Eric felt tossed aside by his family, but he’s now done the same to Katie.

She’s been accused of using him to get ahead. However, it looks like he used her to feel purposeful, and now that he doesn’t need that, he no longer needs her.

Katie Is Going To Put Herself First

What Katie’s learned from this experience is that she should prioritize Logan. She refused to be shamed because she’s not acquiescing to Brooke’s demands. Repeatedly, she’s been told to think about other people’s feelings. That her business decisions shouldn’t ruffle any feathers. That she must navigate the whims and emotions of her loved ones. But what’s being asked of Katie is a courtesy that hasn’t been given to her.

Brooke and Ridge didn’t consider Katie’s feelings when they handed her duties over to a PR firm. It was supposed to be a kindness as she dealt with issues at home. But when she was ready to return to work, they didn’t listen to her. So, when presented with the gift of a fashion house of her own, Katie took a leap of faith and left Forrester. Since then, she’s dealt with Brooke and Ridge’s unsuccessful attempts to dictate how she should run it.

The sisters keep circling back to the same core issue. Brooke expects Katie to act like the “little sister” she knew, who stayed out of the spotlight. Katie refuses to and insists that everything in life doesn’t always have to be about Brooke.

In this instance, Logan is about Katie and her dreams, not anyone else’s. Eric saw that, and his departure may have hurt her more than Brooke’s inability to support Katie.
