Brooke Thinks She Won on B&B but Katie May Have Played This Better

Brooke thought she had protected Forrester from Katie’s latest move. Instead, she may have walked straight into a trap that puts Hope at the center of a family betrayal neither Logan sister is prepared to survive.

Brooke and Katie reached a compromise on The Bold and the Beautiful with terms the eldest Logan didn’t fully understand. They agreed that each was allowed to employ members of their respective families. Forresters hire Forresters, and Spencers hire Spencers. Brooke secured Katie’s word that she wouldn’t poach any more Forresters from the company. But her request was short-sighted.

Key Takeaways

  • Why Brooke thought she and Katie struck a fair deal.
  • How Katie outfoxed her and reset the board on the Logan feud.

Brooke Underestimated Katie to Her Own Detriment on B&B

Not everyone who’s contributed to Forrester Creations is a part of the Forrester family. A prime example is Hope (Annika Noelle). She’s a Logan by birth, but a Spencer by marriage. Therefore, by the rules of the Logan sisters’ agreement, she’s fair game. Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) neglected to consider the limitations of only asking for Katie (Heather Tom) to leave Forresters out of Logan business.

The agreement between the sisters came after Brooke slapped Katie. It was Katie’s retaliation hiding in plain sight. She got Brooke to state that there should be no issue with her hiring Spencers at Logan. In exchange, Katie promised not to consider any Forresters for employment.

Brooke believed this would keep a situation like Eric’s brief stint at Logan from happening again. If they could set professional boundaries, perhaps then the personal ones would stay intact, too. Unfortunately for the fashion icon, she took Katie’s words too literally. Brooke should have told her sister to stay away from Forrester employees, period.

Limiting her request to Forrester family members put Katie at the advantage. She wanted Brooke to make a blanket statement that ignored a very important fact about her own daughter. This way, when it’s revealed that Hope (Annika Noelle) works at Logan, Katie can say she was within the bounds of their agreement.

However, Katie knows that doesn’t mean the peace between her and her sister will be kept. She later acknowledged to Hope that the terms of the compromise won’t stop Brooke from blowing her top. She’s still going to be angry, but Brooke won’t be able to say she wasn’t told that all Spencers are welcome at Logan.

The Impact Katie’s Subterfuge Could Have on the Logans

No matter how this pear is sliced, Katie was duplicitous. She tricked Brooke because she knew her sister would never consider that Hope would work at Logan.

Brooke doesn’t conceive of Hope as a Spencer. She’s a Logan and, in her mind, an extended member of the Forrester family, even if they don’t always treat Hope that way. Most importantly, Hope is her daughter, so she expects that she’ll always be a member of Forrester’s team.

Brooke is likely to see Katie interfering in another Forrester matter. Similar to Eric, Hope felt cast out of the company. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) decided to pull production on her line.

Initially, they wouldn’t give her a launch date or window for when production would resume. Hope was in limbo and angry that her line had been put on the shelf. It was the perfect situation for Logan to exploit.

Katie’s clever turn of phrase upped the ante on Brooke’s coming reaction to Hope’s new job. At first, she was being lied to, but now she’s been made a fool, and her daughter is in on the joke. The Spencers have assumed that Brooke’s ire will be directed mainly at Katie.

However, it’s possible that Hope won’t escape unscathed from Brooke’s anger. Brooke largely reacts with hurt whenever she and Hope are at odds. But she’s gone to bat for her daughter with the Forresters and got her line back on track.

In return, Hope hasn’t been upfront with Brooke about her career decisions and instead has led Brooke to believe she’ll resume her duties at Forrester in the future. Learning that Hope had no intention of coming back to FC could push the two into a relationship-fracturing showdown.
