It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, but while all animals are equal, some animals are more equal than others.

The same goes for soap-opera characters. Everyone suffered in 2016. But some managed to do it more so than others. Thousands of fans chimed in to vote on: Which soap character had the worst 2016? Here’s what you said:

Madam, I’m Adam
Adam (Justin Hartley) from The Young and the Restless ended 2016 dead. That’s pretty bad. But, even before that, he had to deal with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Victor (Eric Braeden) framing Adam for murder.

Chloe, at least, had good reasons. But his own father! (Victor had his own reasons, too, and he even managed to convince himself they were for Adam’s own good, because whatever is good for Victor is ultimately good for Adam, right? Right?)

Adam then had to deal with brother Nick (Joshua Morrow) playing Daddy to Adam’s son, Christian, even as the baby “died.” He tried to flee Genoa City with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Conner, but Chloe showed up again to seek even more revenge. Thanks to all that, 45% of you named Adam as 2016’s biggest soap-opera loser.
