Year in and year out, soaps basically give us the same things and that’s why we watch. It’s like comfort food and we know what to expect. However, some soaps have too much of one thing and not enough of another.
Do you want to see a return to family this year, with core clans taking center stage? General Hospital (GH) already seems to be restoring the Quartermaines with new members while keeping the tried and true around like Monica (Leslie Charleson) and Ned (Wally Kurth).
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) showed us the Hortons are alive and thriving–and even fighting–considering the Christmas ornament “fun” two weeks ago.
The Forresters and their extended friends and family were together at one big table for Christmas on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) and Victor and Nikki’s New Year’s vow renewal brought the Newmans to the forefront on The Young and the Restless (YR).

Or, do you want to see more romance? GH ended the year with a kiss between an epic couple who had not shared a kiss since 2012. DAYS had several kisses end 2017–like the ones between Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Will (Chandler Massey) and Paul (Christopher Sean).
Would returning favorites make your year? DAYS already had Louise Sorel as Vivian Alamain and we can expect to see Leann Hunley as Anna by the end of the week and Lisa Rinna as Billie early this year. GH teased us with Lesley Webber for a day, but do you want more? Y&R has already given us JT.
Perhaps you want more adventure and the Salem and Port Charles crews certainly provide that. With mobsters running around PC and a mystery to solve involving the Jason switch, it looks like we’ll get just that.
