Swapping Soaps: Marvelous Maneuver Or Fabulous Flop?

You’ve seen it all before many times, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you like seeing actors switch soaps. Or does it?

While General Hospital fans may have been thrilled to get Steve Burton back as Jason, he did leave poor Sharon (Sharon Case) on her own on The Young and the Restless.

Kassie DePaiva had a legion of fans during her time as Blair on One Life To Live and fans were excited to see her come to General Hospital, but then suddenly she was Eve on Days of Our Lives!

Darin Brooks left DAYS and headed to The Bold and the Beautiful where he’s wowing them as Wyatt. Meanwhile, Gina Tognoni also hailed from OLTL, then headed to Guiding Light before landing on The Young and the Restless as Phyllis while Michelle Stafford left that role for GH’s Nina.

So many revolving doors, it’s enough to make a soap fan dizzy! Soap Hub wondered if fans like to see actors switching soaps and here are those results.

Stay Put
After almost 5,000 votes were tallied, a strong 74% declared that they want their favorite actors to stay put. It can be awfully jarring when you see someone you’ve grown to love in one role over many years suddenly popping up on another of your shows as someone totally new!

What do you think? Post a comment!

It takes you out of the world that’s been created and makes you scratch your head a bit.

It’s All Good
That, of course, means that for 26%, you totally dig it! It’s certainly better than your favorite just leaving daytime and leaving you unsure if you’ll ever get to see their fabulous acting again. If what it takes is moving to another show, you’re all for it.

After all, you’d hate to think of daytime without Elizabeth Hendrickson (now on GH), Jason Thompson (now on Y&R), Rena Sofer (now on B&B), Greg Vaughan (now on DAYS), or countless others.
