Soap Vets Come Out In Support Of Doug Davidson

 Comments

It’s great when your best friend comes to your defense and for Doug Davidson. That best friend would be rock star AND former General Hospital star Rick Springfield!

The pair has been friends for many years, with Springfield (ex-Noah/Eli, General Hospital) even serving as an usher at Davidson’s wedding, but now he’s letting everyone know what he thinks about Davidson being bumped to recurring status. He retweeted a petition to keep the actor on The Young and the Restless.

“@DougDavidsonYR is my best friend forever and was the best actor and mainstay character on the show. An Emmy winning great human being, a truthful actor with an open heart. Another show needs to snap this giant hearted brilliant actor up! Xooxx”

A grateful Davidson retweeted his pal’s words, saying, “Isn’t he fabulous!! Love you and don’t work too hard. 👍😊🙏”

Just this week, Davidson revealed that he was taken off contract last January and has been recurring ever since.

As of now, he has episodes scheduled to tape… which means it will be a long time without Paul being seen in Genoa City, despite the fact that he has a new employee in Rey (Jordi Vilasuso).

In addition to Springfield’s support, Days of Our Lives star Stephen Nichols (Steve), who was was written out after contract negotiations, tweeted his support for the actor.

“This is an absolute travesty. What is going on over there? This man has not only acted his ass off at #YR for 40 years but is a man of the utmost integrity. I am saddened by this news. Much love, Doug!”

So did co-star and former onscreen wife Tracey Bregman (Lauren), who said, “Love you Doug! Forever and a day ❤️🦋”
