Ladies of the Lake, a Web series based on the novel by Days of Our Lives executive producer Ken Corday, became an instant hit Monday on Amazon Prime.
The sudsy drama is a who’s who of daytime and tells the story of four women who live in the wealthy community of Avalon.
They seem to have it all but Executive Producer Michael Caruso cautions that viewers who envy the lives of the women “should be careful what they wish for.”
Martha Madison (ex-Belle, DAYS) stars as Vivian Montgomery, who surrendered her career in order to support her husband.
Lilly Melgar (ex-Lily, General Hospital) stars as quintessential Hollywood wife Angelica Louis, who’s hiding a secret past.
Marie Wilson (ex-Summer, DAYS) stars as Morgan Firestone, a former beauty pageant winner, and Jessica Morris (ex-Jen, One Life to Live) stars as Krystal Amhurst, a barren trophy wife.
“Vivan is the cornerstone character,” Caruso reveals to Soap Hub. “She’s highly intelligent and the most emotionally stable. Vivian calls everyone out on what they’re doing.
“Angelica is a trophy wife with a tragic past and she has found that her way to transcend that past is to cut herself off emotionally. Krystal is the newest resident of Avalon. She tries to be a perfect wife and her husband wants to have a baby.”
Rounding out the quartet is Morgan, whom Caruso says “rose to fame on the pageant circuit. She had a great marriage in the beginning, but has turned into an ice queen.”

Enter Kyle Lowder as Detective Shawn Daniels, who is investigating some homicides that have affected the women.
“Kyle’s character is trying to figure out more of what’s going on in Avalon,” Caruso says.
He’ll have his work cut out for. As Caruso teases:
“The women have alliances. One of the things I really wanted to do is create a likability factor and camaraderie among the ladies.
“They’re far more supportive of each other than you might suspect. They’ve lived next to each other for years, but until now they’ve only known each other on a superficial level.”
This all-star cast also includes Wally Kurth (Ned, GH; Justin DAYS), Ian Buchanan (ex-Ian, DAYS; ex-Duke, GH), Gordon Thomson (ex-Mason, Santa Barbara), John-Paul Lavoisier (ex-Philip, DAYS), Patrika Darbo (Shirley, The Bold and the Beautiful; Nancy, DAYS), Jillian Claire (ex-Abby, DAYS), John Callahan (ex-Edmund, All My Children), and Arianne Zucker (Nicole, DAYS).
“The entire cast delivers some awesome performances,” Caruso adds. “I’m really proud of everybody. Ken Corday wrote a fun book and he was so supportive of the whole process.”
Ladies of the Lake is available on Amazon Prime. The series runs for four episodes and each episode runs approximately 25 minutes.
