There are the Nielsen ratings, which use a mathematical formula to figure out how many viewers watched each of the soaps on what day and for how long. And then there are the fans themselves.

We asked you which show was Can’t-Miss TV for you this year, and 8,000 devoted fans answered!

You Don’t Have To Be Young or Restless… But It Helps!
It is #1 with the Nielsens, and it is #1 with 42% of you. The Young and the Restless (YR) still has you on the edge of your seats, wondering what will happen next.

Will Victor (Eric Braeden) lecture his family about loyalty and growl when they don’t fall in line? Will Billy (Jason Thompson) break another woman’s heart? Will Sharon (Sharon Case) choose the wrong man? Will Jack (Peter Bergman) mock Victor’s mustache? You gotta keep watching to find out!

Checking Into the Hospital
For 41%, it’s all mob all the time, as the continuing adventures of Sonny (Maurice Benard), Ava (Maura West), and not one but two — two! — Jasons (insert the Count from Sesame Street’s laugh, here) have a hold on your attention.

What do you think? Post a comment!

Sure, there’s an actual hospital on General Hospital (GH), a couple of doctors, a couple of nurses. But you’re mostly watching for the cops and robbers, making sure the right guys win. And you know who those are….

Good Old DAYS
Coming in a distant third, at 11%, is Days Of Our Lives (DOOL). Though with a new head writer and some key stories picking up speed, that might soon change.

You Gotta Be Bold
It may be the most popular soap in the world, but The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) came in last in your hearts, with only 4% of the vote. Maybe watching people buried in rubble while the guy who put them there takes turns fretting and cackling with glee, isn’t your idea of a good time.
