Last month, Soap Hub reported that Tyler Christopher needed to take an emergency leave of absence from Days of Our Lives, and Brandon Barash would pinch hit as Stefan.
Now, Soap Opera News and Daytime Indulgence say that Christopher is not returning to DAYS at all. However, there is no word as to whether Barash (ex-Johnny, GH) will continue in the role or if Stefan will be written out of Salem.
When Christopher’s absence was first reported, there were rumors of personal troubles on the set. This isn’t the first time that the actor has taken a temporary leave that turned into a permanent one.
In 2016, Nick Stabile took over the role of Nikolas Cassadine for a few weeks on General Hospital, and we expected Christopher would return eventually. However, that never happened, Nikolas is presumed dead, and the actor began airing on DAYS early this year.
The character of Stefan has not really caught on with fans, as the show involved him in an unpopular story in which he took advantage of a mentally ill Abigail and slept with one of her alternate personalities. Both fans and characters on the show have called the act rape.
While Christopher’s exit has not been confirmed by DAYS, if it is true, we suspect that character will make an exit as well.
Also, does Christopher’s DAYS exit mean Nikolas might make a comeback on GH?
As Soap Hub learns more about this developing story, we will keep you informed.
