Melrose Place, the spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210, is looking at a potential revival. After a lowkey first season, Dynasty star Heather Locklear, who played Sammy Jo, joined the show as the dynamic Amanda Woodward. The series ran on Fox from 1992 to 1999 and told the stories of young people in their 20s searching for love and fulfillment.

MP: Take Three

Deadline broke the news of the potential revival that will reunite three of the show’s actresses — Locklear, Laura Leighton, who played troublemaking Sydney, and Daphne Zuniga, who played heroine Jo. The show is being developed at CBS Studios and will be shopped around to both networks and streaming services.

This new version of Melrose Place is set to pick up years after the original series ended. The Deadline story teased that perhaps one character may no longer be with us. This isn’t the first time Melrose Place is looking at a revival. The show came back in 2009 for a year. The updated version starred Katie Cassidy as Ella Simms, Stephany Jacobsen as Lauren Yung, and Jessica Lucas as Riley Richmond.

Actors from the original series reprised their roles including Thomas Calabro (Michael), Locklear, and Leighton. This new version may not included stories from that series but instead will pick up from where things left off in 1999.

Many Melrose Place cast members reunited over Zoom in 2020 to help benefit The Actors Fund. One of the show’s most memorable moments was when Dr. Kimberly Shaw (Marcia Cross) stood in front of a bathroom mirror and took off her wig, revealing a horrible scar on her head.

Former apartment complex residents will return to honor one of their deceased comrades. However, as is wont to happen during reunions, old traumas, secrets, romances, and resentments resurface.

It’s certainly possible that other OG actors/characters will return to the show. Melrose Place alumni includes Josie Bissett (Jane), Doug Savant (Matt), and Grant Show (Jake). Vanessa A. Williams (Valerie Grant, Days of our Lives) appeared in the show’s first season as Rhonda.

Which original Melrose Place cast members would you like to see return? Sound off in the comments below.
