An explosive exposé, cathartic confrontations, and an inevitable return helped make the week of October 5-9 memorable. It’s time to dissect the hits and misses on all five soaps: Beyond the Gates, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless.
Key Takeaways
- B&B earns Standout Soap of the Week thanks to Delon de Metz’s powerful performance as Zende.
- Lulu’s explosive exposé rocks Port Charles, while Kristen discovers Sophia alive in Salem.
- Electra’s petty behavior, Chase’s blind faith in Willow, and Matt’s return to Genoa City raise some questions.
Hits and Misses Breakdown: October 5-9, 2026
Beyond the Gates
HIT: The Banneker Homecoming. BTG continues to serve up unique and fresh moments. Anita and Vernon’s pre-party before Banneker’s Homecoming was fun and dramatic, and provided insight into life at an HBCU. Loved all the touches from the Banneker fight song to the college gear everybody was wearing. And it surprised us when Tyrell (Jaden Lucas Miller) announced he was dating Chessy (Madison Alsobrook). Samantha’s reaction to her brother dating her Cotillion rival was classic.
MISS: The Duprees aren’t telling Martin about Hayley’s leverage. Martin (Brandon Claybon) is a congressman who can handle the truth. Sure, his anger might boil over and cause him to do something stupid. But he deserves to know. The family shouldn’t wait until after the election to tell him. He could very well be blindsided.
Worth a Mention: Loved Vernon and Andre this week. Vernon was beyond fierce as he took it upon himself to handle the Hayley (Marquita Goings) situation. As for Andre, he finally let Dani (Karla Mosley) see how frustrated he was with her constant need to support Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett). She has gone above and beyond, and it’s understandable why her actual husband would be upset. It shouldn’t have taken this conversation to clue her in. Clifton Davis and Sean Freeman were great this week.

Bold and the Beautiful***Standout Soap of the Week***
HIT: Delon de Metz’s performance in the Friday episode. This is what we have been waiting for. Up until now, Zende has shown his frustration with being overlooked and underestimated with digs and tantrums. But he finally laid it all out for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Eric (John McCook) after they learned he had a job offer from Logan. Zende talked about being adopted and that to this day, he felt like an outsider with the Forresters. He brought up his mom and Thorne. He talked about Africa, and hearing his POV was glorious. Delon de Metz moved us with his performance, which is why B&B gets the standout soap of the week. We’re going to have to rewatch these scenes asap.
MISS: Electra’s glee in potentially getting Dylan fired. Electra (Laneya Grace) took such pleasure in snitching on Dylan (Sydney Bullock) to Ridge and Eric. And then she showed such glee when she told Dylan about it. It wasn’t the flex that she thought it was. It just showed how petty and vindictive she is. Electra isn’t self-aware enough to realize she could very well be the villain in this situation.
Worth a Mention: Former Soap Hub writer, Michael Maloney, returned as Del, the janitor at Forrester Creations. Del cleaning that couch in the CEO’s office was beyond hilarious. It was great to see Maloney pop in for another appearance.

Days of our Lives
HIT: An intriguing arrival and an inevitable return. Dante (Franco LoPresti) showed up at the DiMera mansion and surprised Sydney (Sydney Malakeh). But what intrigued us the most about his arrival was his brief exchange with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). Add him to the list of everybody who despises EJ. But he kept the DiMeras on their toes by not immediately confronting Sami’s ex-husband. Meanwhile, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) finding an alive Sophia (Rachel Boyd) was a great Friday cliffhanger, even though we all knew it was going to happen.
MISS: Johnny’s reaction to Steve telling him to watch out for EJ. Steve (Stephen Nichols) told Johnny (Carson Boatman) he would need to watch his back when his father learned about Johnny’s betrayal. Johnny told the FBI and the Salem PD all about his father’s pharmaceutical misdeeds and cover-ups. He thinks EJ won’t do anything to his son in retaliation. He may want to think again. Why didn’t he give Steve’s claim the seriousness that was needed?
Worth a Mention: Chanel (Raven Bowens) ringing the victory bell after her final chemo session was a nice, emotional moment. She gave a speech thanking the hospital workers and Paulina (Jackée Harry), Lani (Sal Stowers), and Johnny. And then she rang the bell. Chanel has been through so much with her health. It was great to see her mark an end to this part of the struggle.

General Hospital
HIT: Lulu gets the goods on Willow. Sure, Lulu (Alexa Havins) fast-tracked her article. But when she interviewed Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and he spilled secrets, the gotcha look on her face was fantastic. She got Drew (Cameron Mathison) to sign a HIPAA release form that let her access his private medical information. She talked to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Lucas (Van Hansis). And the next day, the article sent shockwaves through Port Charles.
MISS: Chase still doesn’t believe Willow’s guilt. And for a while there, Lulu exposing Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) for her role in drugging Drew and being responsible for his locked-in state looked like it would lead to the congresswoman’s much-needed downfall. However, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. In fact, Chase (Josh Swickard) doesn’t believe Willow could ever do such a thing and is encouraging her to go after the Quartermaines, who had nothing to do with this article. What?
Worth a Mention: Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Willow’s sudden friendship is perplexing. Yes, they are family. But they barely interacted for the longest time. And now, after a couple of girl talk sessions, Britt takes it upon herself to become Willow’s confidante and then confronts Sidwell on Willow’s behalf. Don’t get us wrong. Britt needs friends. But we’re not sure she needs this one.

Young and the Restless
HIT and MISS: Audra and Chelsea sniping at each other. Audra (Zuleyka Silver), Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), and Sally (Courtney Hope) couldn’t be bothered with Adam (Mark Grossman) and Billy (Jason Thompson) and their bickering. But maid of honor Audra and bridesmaid Chelsea were just as bad. Their sniping at Sally’s bachelorette party wasn’t a good look at all. They should have been able to put aside their differences from the get-go. However, the moment when they both took accountability and explained their actions was great. Audra doesn’t need any more enemies in Genoa City.
MISS: Matt’s back in Genoa City. Well, it didn’t take long for Matt to head back to Genoa City. All it took was an unhinged Patty (Stacy Haiduk), a car accident, and a bump on the head to send him back. And now, next week, we’ll see which Matt truly emerges. At least Roger Howarth is fun to watch when his characters’ emotions are all over the place.
Worth a Mention: Sharon’s main room in her house got a refresh, which was great to see. But what we really loved was finally getting to see the inside of the Chancellor Park Cafe. We were wondering whether we ever would. The characters no longer have to sit outside with the heat lamps in the winter if they don’t want to.
