Romance is the name of the game on soaps, even if some seem to forget that from time to time. Every soap opera has at least one pair they hope becomes a supercouple and some have even more than one.
But only one soap supercouple can be considered the most romantic. Soap Hub wanted to know which classic pair fans think should hold that title.
Over 18,000 fans agreed to help us by shooting off one of cupid’s arrows… okay, you hit a button in a poll, but still… here is your winner.
What’s Up, Doc?
With over half the votes at 51%, John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) from Days of Our Lives win the crown as the most romantic couple in daytime with this super scientific poll!
(They even won the Salem supercouple title on the DAYS app. Go #GrandmasForJarlena, the best Soap Twitter hashtag we’ve seen in ages.)
These two can dance with each other, whether or not there’s any music playing. They love feeding each other strawberries and whipped cream! And most of all, they’ve been together for decades and still love waking up next to each other! Smooches to you both!
Oh That Face
General Hospital’s Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) made a very strong showing, coming in second with 37% of the vote. These two are so romantic, they waited over a year to before finally moving forward with their reunion but at least when they did, a roaring fire and a grilled cheese sandwich were involved!

The Eyes of Love
Who can hear that song and not think of Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) on The Young and the Restless?
A still sturdy 10% consider these two the most romantic and how can you not? There’s nothing these two won’t do for each other and their children… and that includes killing unsuitable suitors for their daughter. (Granted, JT was abusive and violent with Victoria at the time.)
A Bridge to Nowhere
That leaves Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) of The Bold and the Beautiful with 2% of voters deeming them the most romantic couple in daytime.
Ridge has certainly been known to go a bit overboard every time he tries to win back Brooke’s love. Surely that has to be worth something, right?
