Long before he was making Salem hearts flutter on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), Lamon Archey made Genoa City hearts do the same on The Young and the Restless (YR) as Hilary’s first love interest. Now he reacts to the news that this larger-than-life character is dead.
The handsome actor played Mason Wilder, who worked at Newman Enterprises. But Mason also was plotting with Hilary (Mishael Morgan) to get back at Neil (Kristoff St. John) for killing her mother, Rose.
At the time, Hilary also suggested that Mason befriend Devon (Bryton James), who had just inherited millions after his grandmother, Kay (Jeanne Cooper) passed.
Soap Hub spoke recently spoke with Archey and broke the news to him that Y&R killed off the character of Hilary.
“Oh, did she die?! I knew there was a car crash, but I didn’t know she died. Well you never know, it seems like everyone dies and comes back.”
Of course, Archey is used to how things work at his current show. “DAYS, you can have your head cut off and we’ll see you next week,” he laughed, tongue very much in cheek. Getting more serious, he recalled what it was like to work with the dynamo actress.
“I could be wrong, but I was one of her first love interests on the show. I’m pretty sure I am,” he recalled. “She was such a gem. I loved, loved, loved working with her.”
It wasn’t just Archey being a first for Morgan on the show: She was a first for him, as well.
“She actually might have been my first… on-camera love scene. It was probably post lovemaking,” he said as he tried to remember exactly how the scenes went. He really enjoyed his time on the show and working with the talented actress.
“She was absolutely great. I wish her well. I know that she will be doing great things, and I can’t wait to see her on the big screen. I know she’ll be there in no time.”
