Fans have needed a scorecard to keep track of all the casting changes with actors from The Young and the Restless going to General Hospital and vice versa.
In fact, things have changed so much that they’re going back to the way they were in light of the news that Steve Burton (ex-Dylan, Y&R) is returning to General Hospital (presumably to play Jason).
Naturally, fans are wondering if this means more casting switches are in the works.
It doesn’t take an expert in dominoes to figure out why fans are speculating Burton’s return might change other actors’ destinies. If GH were to replace Billy Miller with Burton as Jason, then perhaps Y&R might rehire Miller to play his Emmy-winning role as Billy.
One supporter (who goes by the Twitter handle “Resting Bitch Face”) of Jason Thompson‘s tweeted out that CBS Daytime had better not replace the Emmy nominee in the role of Billy as he is a big favorite. “Just know #YR that y’all lucky to have talent like Jason Thompson on ur show and y’all better not let him go ya hear.”
Resting Bitch Face tagged both Y&R executive producer Mal Young and Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs and Syndicated Program Development, CBS Entertainment and CBS Television.
Jason Is Billy
Soaps In Depth reported that McDaniel tweeted back in response that “JT is incredible #notgoinganywhere.” (Though that tweet seems to have since been deleted.)
Time will tell as to what will be the next casting shuffle in daytime. Perhaps, Burton’s return to GH will be the only big news to break, or fans could be looking at more players going through the revolving door of daytime.
It’d be a win/win for Thompson fans, however. If he were to ever leave his gig as Billy, it’d open the door for GH to rehire him as Dr. Patrick Drake. And who wouldn’t be okay with that?
