This summer several soaps enlisted some high profile guests to appear on the shows complete with weeks, if not months, of promotion to heighten the anticipation.

For instance, Julie Chen appeared on The Young and the Restless (YR) earlier this year. Daytime vet Jennifer Bassey’s recent appearance on General Hospital (GH) also sent ripples of excitement through fans when news of her appearance hit!

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) brought on Morgan Fairchild and also plans to have many high profile returns to Salem later this year.

Soap Hub asked how you feel about all these hotly promoted appearances. Out of several thousand responses, here are the answers!

Gimme One Reason
The fact that all the recent guest entrances to the fabric of the soaps appeared to be random and for no real story moving reason led to 60% of you to wonder what it was all for.

After all the anticipation, many of these guests were letdowns due to the fact that they didn’t get a great part in the story. While you enjoy the idea, in theory, you’re less than impressed with its recent execution on daytime.

Gimme More
However, a strong 40% of you want all the high profile guest appearances you can get. You love the anticipation and build up ahead of time, and you seriously enjoy seeing these people in your favorite sudser cities.

You’d love to see even more of this happen in the future. You think anything that brings more exposure to soap operas is fabulous! Perhaps these appearances catch the interest of new viewers or bring previous viewers back into the fold.
