It looks like The Young and the Restless has made a big move… and Doug Davidson let the cat out of the bag during a late-night tweet fest.
The actor began responding to and re-tweeting fan comments about the state of the show, and at one point a fan asked, “They haven’t let you go, have they?”
Davidson responded with “It would seem so,” setting off a barrage of devastated fan tweets with commentary from the actor.
He admitted to one fan that he has no dates scheduled in the near future, which might lead him to believe this is the end of his run.
Also, another fan asked, “So, you’ve been fired” to which Davidson replied, “That sounds harsh, but yes.”
When some fans suggested he find another soap, he did say his history and loyalty is with Y&R, while thanking fans for a good run over 40 years.

Co-star Eric Braeden (Victor) ‘silently’ chimed in by re-tweeting a fan saying that Davidson had been fired.
Davidson also had a few things to say about the direction of the show, making it a point to criticize Jack suddenly not being an Abbott.
Earlier in the summer, Davidson’s Twitter account went on a late-night rant against the show and its changes, but the next day Davidson tweeted that it wasn’t him and his account had been hacked.
