Compromise is key to any negotiation, and William deVry (Julian) says that’s just the word that best describes what was needed to make his new contract with General Hospital (GH) become a reality.
Additionally, the army of Julexis fans played a key role in making sure that deVry would continue on as Julian, the man Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) just can’t seem to get out of her system.
The Fans Made It Happen
“I want to reiterate that there was always an interest in both parties,” deVry tells Soap Hub about his staying on as Julian. “There was a question of compromise, and the fans were an extraordinarily powerful voice in making that compromise happen.”
Even though he was there, the actor says it mostly remains a haze about the response he received when he showed up at General Hospital Fan Club Weekend at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Glendale.
“There are moments in life that are just sort of a blur,” says deVry, likening the moment he experienced at GHFCW to when he would walk onto the high school basketball court and hear cheers and applause just before a big game.
“It was so big, the same sort of feeling,” deVry recalls. “I could hear the applause, but I wasn’t able to really take it in. It was really nice, but I was lost. I know there was a lot of clapping. I didn’t know which way to go [after I walked in]. I have to go by everyone else’s reaction. They tell me it was pretty huge.”
Let’s Go To The Tape
Fortunately, deVry can relive that moment a bit more objectively now. Soap Hub was on the scene and recorded the moment he showed up to meet GH fans, who are undoubtedly thrilled that Julian is sticking around!
