Rumors have been floating around for weeks, but now, it appears the buzz about William deVry checking out of General Hospital is true. The actor who brought Julian Jerome to life (or rather, back to life) has taken to social media to bid a fond farewell to his daytime pals.

A Farewell Night For William deVry

“Much love to @valentinifrank, @GeneralHospital, @NancyLeeGrahn, @dom_zamprogna, @lldubs, @phideaux_xavier, @GenieFrancis, @kinshriner, @haleypullos, @RealEdenMccoy, @_lexiainsworth & everyone 4 all the [love over the] last 7 years. Fans MADE #Julexis & Julian…4ever.”

“Much love back to u my hot sexy partner who helped make r senior sex the hottest thing for 3 yrs straight,” Grahn responded to her former leading man. “Nobody can throw this 60 yr old against a wall like u did, gather a freaking #Julexisarmy like we did & live to tell about it. #julexis made ageism stupid & experience sick.”

Alexis wasn’t the only one with whom Julian shared a romp. Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) tweeted: “All the best to you Mr @WilliamdeVry1 the world is your oyster! Our ear bite moment will go down in #gh history.”

When a fan commented that she thought deVry was now staying, he wrote:  “No,” deVry confirmed. “Lol. The moss [in Sonny’s kitchen] stays. I leave.”

In a series of tweets, the actor went on to praise others for his tenure on the ABC soap. “I also want to make a massive shout out to @carlivatiron [Ron Carlivati, now Days of Our Lives’ head writer] for bringing Julian Jerome back to life. We miss you. A large thank you to @nathanvarni for your love & support. @GeneralHospital #GH. The Jeromes were brought to life.”

They were bitter rivals on-screen, but Sonny’s portrayer, Maurice Benard, bid his TV enemy a fond farewell. “Good luck my friend I know you won’t need it,” Benard posted.

“Good luck @WilliamdeVry1 I enjoyed our hamburgers today!” tweeted Kin Shriner (Scotty); deVry replied: “You are a class act! Florida buddies forever! @kinshriner thank you for lunch! Thanks for sticking around while I packed. We had a lot of visitors!!”

“As @GeneralHospital actors we didn’t get to see [ABC programming executives] @vickiabc123 (Victoria Dummer) and @nathanvarni (Nathan Varni) and @billburton1 (William Burton) very often,” deVry says. “But when we did it they were always AA1st Class. Thank you for a wonderfully blessed 7 years. Wouldn’t change a thing.”

Also on deVry’s list of people to thank are GH legends Tristan Rogers (Scorpio) and Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke). The actor tweeted: “to @tristanrogers! Big star who treats everyone w respect! @KilttripUSA (Buchanan) sorry we didn’t get to spend more time on GH together!

“Also a big shout out to my baby mama @lisalocicerogh. A shining light up and down our GH corridor! @watroswatros. My neighbor. Sorry I missed u!” deVry added. “Also to @themarkmlawson. A good dude who fit in quickly on show!”

Lawson responded: “Aww. Thanks man. Felt like a homecoming from the jump. Will miss walking by your room and catching a few moments of 60s and 70s TV and watching you sprint in the parking lot.”

“You’re a class act buddy,” tweeted Dominic Zamprogna (Dante). “Gotta have some distance beers to celebrate what’s next!”

“Make sure u get that TV LOL. Nobody else gets it!!” deVry replied. “Thank you sir. It’s always the friends u make that makes ya sad. Always fun to talk hockey. There’s literally nobody left to talk @NHL for you now!!”

“Thank you to @kellymonaco1 for all our talks. Will never forget,” deVry tweeted to his TV daughter, Kelly Monaco (Sam).

After tweeting well into the evening, deVry signed off but not before thanking the most important folks of all — GH’s loyal fan base. “I’m tweeted out! Much love to the fans for their passion and devotion! ♥️♥️🙏🏾🤸 Night night!” deVry tweeted.

GH hasn’t confirmed deVry’s exit and the actor is staying mum on exactly how Julian will be exiting the canvas. (One fan asked if Julian gets killed; the actor advised: “Must watch.”) Keep in mind that Julian has left the canvas twice before only to return. Could there be a third time? Stay tuned to find out! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
