They were an odd couple, to begin with, so when GH spoilers teased Maxie Jones and Austin Gatlin-Holt breaking up, it didn’t come as much of a surprise to anybody. The bigger surprise was that they tried to make it work for so long.

Now, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) has three kids to take care of. She has plenty to keep her busy. But Austin (Roger Howarth) doesn’t seem to be doing much doctoring. And the woman he actually had the most chemistry with, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), has just tragically died. So Soap Hub asked viewers to predict what Austin will do next.
General Hospital: Ricochet
Sure, it didn’t work the last time, but, 28% of fans still want Austin to keep pursuing Maxie. You speculate that maybe their timing was wrong. Maybe Georgie hating him was the problem. Maybe it was Damian Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) presence. Or maybe it was the lying. Yeah, Maxie said it was the lying. Well, that’s over with, right? So why not give it another go?
GH Spoilers: Familiar Faces
Then again, an almost equal 29% predict that Austin will pair up with a newly single Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West). Sure, we’re not supposed to see that he looks just like the artist a much younger Ava was once obsessed with. But maybe that can be an undercurrent. They won’t know. But we will.

Austin Gatlin-Holt: Double Vision
Of course, if we’re going to try and recreate a past love, then 43% of you speculate you want to see Austin paired with Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). The two actors had great chemistry when Howarth played Franco Baldwin, so there’s no reason to think they wouldn’t have it again. Liz and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) seems to be a non-starter, so let’s dump that doctor and get another one. Austin seems good with kids, based on his interactions with Leo. Liz has plenty of kids who need another parental figure.
