When Spencer left to boarding school last summer on General Hospital (GH), we thought that was the last we’d see of Nicolas Bechtel.
Boarding school is typically the kiss of death to soap opera childhood, with a teenager emerging when the character returns. However, that was a false alarm and Spencer managed to escape the SORAS virus with Bechtel returning this summer.
Can we get so lucky twice? With Spencer in boarding school once again, Soap Hub asked if you think Spencer will be SORAS’d the next time he returns to PC, or if he’ll age as a normal human would.
Never Change, Spencer
Out of about 5,500 votes, 78% of you think GH will honor fans’ wishes and keep Bechtel as Spencer. Yes, the show has to work around his schedule for the Disney series, Stuck in the Middle, but since GH is also owned by Disney, that isn’t always too hard.
You say the actor is just way too good to let go for the sake of some teen story and would rather see Cameron SORAS’d, considering we never see him and have no attachment to the actor who occasionally plays him.

Plus, Cam was born before Spencer, so it would make sense to age him first. Heck, Cam, Spencer, and Morgan were all born within 2 years of each other and Morgan (Bryan Craig) has already had an adulthood and alleged death.
It’s Bound To Happen Sometime…
Another 22% of you think we got lucky once, but it’s surely not going to happen again and Spencer will return next summer giving Laura (Genie Francis) a run for her money as a bespectacled teen.
After all, he and Joss (Eden McCoy) were once great friends–when they were the same age. If Joss is now a teen, it makes sense for Spencer to be one, too.
