In the August 6 episode of General Hospital, Sonny shocked Dante with news that Jason was done with the mob, and so was he. However, Jason and Sonny have been here before, more than once.
Key Takeaways
- Sonny opened up to his son.
- Dante was concerned for his father.
- This is not a new move for Sonny or Jason.
Father and Son Bonding on GH
Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) stopped by Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) for some father-son time. Sonny wasted no time filling Dante in on his new working situation.
As Dante joked with Sonny about softball, the topic of Jason (Steve Burton) came up. Sonny informed his son that Jason wasn’t working for him anymore.
The mob boss rehashed Jason’s reasons, and Dante felt for Jason. There was no animosity as Sonny opened up about Jason no longer being his right-hand man.
Dante Brought Up The Elephant in the Room
Even though he understood why Jason left the mob, Dante couldn’t help but be worried about his father. Dante revealed that knowing Jason would take a bullet for Sonny helped him sleep at night.
Sonny admitted he found peace in the same thing, as well as in the fact that Jason would always keep his family safe. Dante grew concerned about Sonny’s safety without Jason.
It turned out that Dante had no reason to be worried or concerned. Sonny announced that he, too, was done with the mob and planned to focus on new legit business opportunities, thanks to Sidwell’s (Carlo Rotta) downfall.
Is This the End of the Mob in Port Charles?
Sonny’s news certainly wasn’t something GH fans saw coming. Jason and Sonny leaving the mob is something that fans have seen before.
They have both put that life in the rearview for various reasons: family, love, safety, and, of course, their drama with each other. In the end, though, Sonny and Jason always find their way back into the business.
Life outside the mob has proven to be challenging for Jason and Sonny. That may not be the case this time around, and that means this decision could be lasting, well, at least for a while.
It’s rumored that GH plans to grow the WSB storylines more, which could mean the mob stuff is phasing out. Do you think this is the end of life in the mob for Sonny and Jason?
