The GH recap for Friday, January 6, 2023, features Sonny Corinthos breaking the news about Britt Westbourne’s death to Spencer Cassadine, one of the people who loved her most.

GH Recap Highlights

In this episode, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) both heard what happened to Britt the night before, as Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) attempted to avenge Britt’s death. Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) did her best to talk sense into Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), while Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) had a bone to pick with his nephew’s father. Finally, Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) lamented her medical state before getting a very surprising phone call. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.

Spencer spent some time catching up with Cameron Webber (William Lipton) and was shocked when Cam told him that he and Josslyn broke up. Spencer was sure Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) had something to do with and the next thing they knew, Sonny walked into Kelly’s with Dex. He explained to Spencer he had bad news and then stunned him when he told them that Britt was killed by The Hook the night before.

Poor Spencer was devastated to lose a woman he once thought of as a mother when he was a little boy being raised by a hapless father who kept making mistake after mistake. Spencer told Sonny he didn’t want to have to go home to Nikolas, so Sonny suggested he go home with him instead.

Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) had the task of breaking the news of Britt’s death to Josslyn, who then had to confess to her mother that Britt died saving her from a hook attack. Carly was stunned that her daughter was nearly killed and didn’t bother telling her. She wasn’t as stunned when Josslyn also told her that she broke up with Cam.

General Hospital Recap: Liz Stops Nik’s Stupidity, Nina Stops Liesl’s Kill

Nikolas Cassadine was chomping at the bit to see Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) for himself and make sure that she really doesn’t remember anything that happened to her. Elizabeth decided she was calling the shots and told Nikolas he will not be seeing Esme because he should not risk his face jarring her memory.

Esme was terrified and confused when Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) started reciting Shakespeare in order to explain she was going to kill her for killing Britt. Amnesiac Esme seemed to have no clue what Liesl was talking about but thankfully, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) arrived in time to stop her aunt from giving Esme anything worse than a sedative.

Nina had to fight Liesl not to smother Esme with a pillow and then talk her out of taking Esme’s baby from her womb right then and there, explaining she had been there and done that and it wasn’t one of her smartest moves. Liesl finally decided to let the matter go when Nina pointed out there is no proof that Esme is The Hook.

Later, Nina and Liesl arrived back at Nina’s apartment with a box of Britt’s belongings but nobody noticed the paperwork that described Willow’s condition.

GH Recap: Willow’s Big News

Speaking of pregnant, dying Willow, she made Wiley Corinthos sad once again because she was too tired to play with the new Quartermaine horse with him in the cold. At least all-around do-gooder with a smile Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) stopped by to distract Wiley and then shove him off on the babysitter to discuss the search for the mysterious Josiah. It turned out that Willow even met Josiah as a child before Harmony Miller (Inga Cadranel) joined Dawn of Day.

Willow also anxiously awaited news about whether her first round of chemo worked, but got different news instead when Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) called to tell her they found a bone marrow match.
