In the October 23 episode of General Hospital, Elizabeth struggled with a decision about her youngest son, Aiden. Dante was there for Elizabeth as she faced a new chapter in her life and gave her something to smile about as sparks continued to fly between them.

Key Takeaways

  • Elizabeth revealed Aiden was leaving town.
  • Dante helped Elizabeth see that letting Aiden go was the right thing to do.
  • They began a new venture together as their friendship deepened.

Elizabeth The Empty Nester

It’s been forever since any of Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) sons were on-screen. In fact, Elizabeth talking to Jason (Steve Burton) about Jake (Hudson West) last week was the first time one of her boys had been mentioned in a long time.

The trend of keeping Elizabeth’s boys off-screen continued with the news that Aiden (Colin Cassidy) was accepted to pastry school in Paris. Elizabeth talked to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) about the situation because Aiden was barely 18.

When Dante mentioned Aiden hadn’t finished high school yet, Elizabeth shared that he got his GED behind her and Lucky’s (Jonathan Jackson) back after he applied to pastry school. Elizabeth was reconsidering allowing him to go, especially since he would leave in four days.

Dante Gives Elizabeth Sound Advice

Taking Elizabeth through the pros and cons of her decision, Dante opened up about how Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) supported him when he was ready to leave home. Dante fully understood that Elizabeth wasn’t ready to be an empty nester, but reminded her that her boys were living their dreams.

Elizabeth heard him out. Dante reassured her that she was doing what was right for Aiden, and it mattered. Then a frazzled Elizabeth began rambling on about having to make cupcakes for the hospital Halloween party since Aiden would be gone.

Dante used that as an opportunity to let Elizabeth know he had killer baking skills and offered to help her. It brought a smile to her face. Elizabeth’s mood changed as she happily accepted Dante’s baking assistance.

Elizabeth’s Left Alone but Has Dante By Her Side

For some reason, GH has decided that Elizabeth doesn’t need her children in the mix despite them being legacy children. It’s a good thing she had Dante there to catch her as she reeled from being an empty nester.

Sparks have been flying between Elizabeth and Dante for months, but they haven’t left the friend zone. Having Dante be the person Elizabeth leaned on as Aiden leaves may mean they are headed in a romantic direction. After all, Elizabeth is supposed to be dating Ric, but he hasn’t been around lately, and Dante has.

If the ABC soap insists on not utilizing the mother side of Elizabeth, then hopefully the show will step up her love life. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they both deserve a legit romance. In the meantime, at least Elizabeth can count on Dante as a friend now that all of her children have left her.
