Unless you have been avoiding social media, you have probably seen something about Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure having left Hallmark for GAC because they will reportedly only show “traditional” relationships. General Hospital alum Vanessa Marcil certainly saw it, and she put the sitcom star on blast.
Vanessa Marcil Claps Back
Marcil, who has a legion of fans from her time as Brenda Barrett in Port Charles, also has an openly gay son she loves and supports completely. She took to Instagram to respond to what Bure had said. “As women and as mothers it is our job to protect our children. All of our children. Not just the privileged ones in our household.
“Speaking from a platform to stand for hate and exclusion of children,” she continued, “who have the highest rates of suicide, while covering it with some bullshit about bravery, religion, and these commercialized holidays? Go ahead and make that money, but it appears it’ll never be enough.”
“Standing for hate in order to gain more popularity in these circles where our bread is buttered is something that we can bet the ‘Lord’ is documenting & she is not going to be pleased with us on ‘judgement day’ If there is a heaven, we won’t be getting the good room there if we stand for hate and division and if we don’t stand up for our most vulnerable.”
Being an advocate for children is nothing new for Vanessa Marcil. She has always stood by her son and urged others to stand by the LGBTQIA+ community over her decades while in the spotlight, so it’s understandable that she would use her voice and platform just as Bure does — but to do in a supportive and kind way through love.
