General Hospital fans know Kate Mansi as Kristina, but Days of our Lives viewers loved her for years as Abigail. Off-screen, however, Mansi has been harboring some deep pain as her beloved dog, Leighla May, has died.
Kate Mansi Mourns Her Ride or Die
“Leighla May,” Mansi began her post on Instagram, “my ride or die for 15 years. The last of which I spent wishing on every eyelash/birthday candle for ‘just one more year together.’ She truly lived up to her namesake and ‘put my worried mind at ease.'”
Mansi noted that her last remark is taken from an Eric Clapton song titled Layla. Ashley Jones (ex-Parker, GH; Bridget, Bold and the Beautiful) took to social media shortly after the loss of her beloved pooch, Oscar. Mansi, however, waited a while before she shared the news that her furry friend had died.
Celebrating Happier Times
“This has taken me months, and I still haven’t really grieved,” the actress adds. “But I guess, grief is like that. In the words of my new fav artist, you may not have heard of yet, Taylor Swift: ‘This is me trying.'”

In January of 2020, Mansi celebrated Leighla May’s birthday. “Two things are clear,” the actress observed at the time, “1- they call you a human’s best friend for a reason pup. 2- I really like champagne. Happy birthday to my dog who doesn’t care it’s her birthday at all.”
