Laura Wright always shows up to play — and not just when she’s portraying Carly Spencer on General Hospital but also when she’s out and about meeting fans. Recently, a group of GH supporters got some informative scoop from the Daytime Emmy Award and Soap Hub Award-winning star.

Laura Wright: The Wright Stuff

Wright recently attended the General Hospital Convention produced by Creation Entertainment in Burbank and handled some hosting duties in addition to participating in a panel with co-stars Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Cynthia Watros (Nina Reeves). Between Q&A sessions, Wright fielded various inquiries with candor and warmth from convention attendees.

Asked why GH never wrote the COVID-19 pandemic into the show’s storylines, Wright suggested it simply wasn’t the right decision (even though GH has done a few pandemic/epidemic stories over the years). “We know everyone in the world was dealing with COVID,” she said. “We didn’t want you guys to watch it on TV [on top of that].”

General Hospital: Only Her Hairdresser Knows For Sure

One fan wanted to know something deeply personal to Wright — who does her hair? “Two people blow out my hair,” she responded, noting that the process of getting her follicles camera-ready can take between 35-40 minutes. On the subject of Carly’s wardrobe, Wright previewed that she has a new blazer that viewers will soon be seeing. “I put it on and was, like, ‘Oh, Shawn [Reeves, GH’s costumer], thanks!'” The actress went on to explain that she can borrow an item from the show to wear to an industry-related event, but, ultimately, the wardrobe is owned by ABC.

Laura Wright: Triple Threat

On the topic of which other stars on the show she’d like to do more scenes with, Wright responded that her “go-to” answer is Finola Hughes (Anna Devane). “Oh, and Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine),” Wright hastened to add. “Carly drives her crazy. How funny would it be if [Carly and Tracy] were like stuck somewhere and had to work together and deal with each other? Working with Jane would be absolutely fantastic.”
