Michael E. Knight and General Hospital co-star Kim Delaney recently did a meet and greet with fans in a virtual gathering put on by Fantasy Events. During the chat, both actors were reminded just how much love that the fans had — and continue to have — for the actors who started their acting careers as siblings Tad and Jenny on All My Children nearly 40 years ago.

Michael E. Knight Reveals His Gratitude

Delaney came to join GH last year when the show was looking to bring back the character of Jackie Templeton, originated by Demi Moore in 1981. Viewers learned Jackie’s the mother of Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), whom she calls “Harry.” Knight joined the show as attorney Martin Grey, who turned out to be Laura’s (Genie Francis) long-lost half-brother, in 2019.

During the fan gathering, Knight gave kudos to the many soap opera viewers for playing a role in keeping him on GH beyond his initial run. “I literally begged Frank [Valentini, executive producer] to get the job on GH because I wanted to get my [union] benefits back. He said, ‘Yeah, I’ve got this lawyer part…it’s four episodes. You’d be working with Roger Howarth [ex-Franco]. How do you feel about that?’ I said, ‘Sure!'”

Not surprisingly, once GH had the three-time Daytime Emmy-winner on its show, it didn’t want to let him go! “Frank came to me on the first week that I was there,” Knight shares, “and he said, ‘The fans still remember you. Do you want to stick around for a while?'”

Michael E. Knight took the exec up on his invitation and has been happily playing Martin ever since, knowing he had the fan reaction to thank. During the Zoom gathering, Knight and Delaney both expressed appreciation for the viewers who embraced them four decades ago and continue to support them now.
