It was a tough year on General Hospital when both Laura and Genie Francis were gone… but now she is back in a front-burner story, and we couldn’t be happier!
The drought is over: Laura (Genie Francis) is back with a vengeance, leading story as the mayor of Port Charles.
This is the way things should have been before Francis was unceremoniously taken off-contract and bumped to recurring status pretty much exactly a year ago. But everyone makes mistakes and GH sure has corrected theirs!
Now Francis is not only back, but she is driving story, intricately involved in the hottest plot of the year so far– the return of Ryan Chamberlin (Jon Lindstrom) and his return to his serial-killer ways.
Was anyone else holding their breath when Ryan cornered her at Sonny’s gym, with rope wrapped around his hands, ready to strike?

Thankfully, Scott (Kin Shriner) showed up — and we don’t mean just because his showing up made it impossible for Ryan to kill Laura.
We are also grateful because seeing those two actors reconnect and talk about the death of Gail Baldwin provided some incredibly emotional moments for longtime fans watching.
Scott and Laura were once married — back when they were both young and naive — something neither can be accused of now.
